Rooftop at the Providence G is my go-to recommendation for seasonal cocktails and live entertainment. Located downtown, this rooftop bar and restaurant is located seven stories up, providing you with inspiring views of the glittering city below. The hand-crafted cocktails offer a range of flavors, but figgy-fashioned is one of my favorites. It’s made with bourbon, fig puree, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and pom juice.

 

After a long week of work, what’s better than unwinding at a comedy club? Be sure to check out Comedy Connection in East Providence, which features some of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment. The 240-seat venue brings national acts and headlining comics from across the country for an unforgettable evening.

 

 

 

Rhode Island never fails to impress me with its natural beauty and sweeping views. Despite its small size, Rhode Island is known as the “Ocean State” and borders over 400 miles of coastline. The origins of Providence date back to its founding in 1636, making it one of the oldest cities in the United States. Due to its proximity to water, it became a major New World seaport. It became a hub for textile manufacturing and subsequent machine tool, jewelry, and silverware industries. With trade booming, the city quickly grew and has since become a desirable place for our clients to live, work, and play.

 

If you’re like me, then you enjoy delving into a city’s history, I’ve got the perfect place in mind for you. The Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, located in Roger Williams Park, dates back to 1896. For more than a century, it has offered exciting exhibits and programs that equip children and families to learn more about the region’s history.

 

 

Residents gather for celebrations throughout the year, and Waterfire is an event that you don’t want to miss. Each year, this highly anticipated event attracts nearly one million visitors to downtown Providence to experience art in the heart of the city. This signature event is an award-winning fire sculpture installation that takes place on three rivers in downtown Providence. Created by local artists, the event lights up over eighty braziers, spanning from Waterplace Park to Memorial ParkSouth Main Street on scheduled evenings throughout the season. Lighting occurs shortly after sunset, and the fires remain until midnight, bringing life to the rivers of Providence. This captivating event is sure to impress and inspire you as much as it did me.

 

Be sure to jot down the PrideFest & Parade event in your calendar. This invite draws more than 100,000 people to Providence for a colorful celebration. One of my event highlights is the parade, which takes place at night and is made up of a dazzling display of floats, performing artists, and marching bands.

 

 

Located at the head of Narragansett Bay, Providence locals can take full advantage of the town’s convenient location. The city is located a short 40 miles away from Boston and 33 miles from Newport, Rhode Island. Locals can easily head to a neighboring city for an evening out or pack up the family for a day trip.

 

Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that Providence is only minutes away from the ocean. Soak up the sunshine at Conimicut Point Park, located less than 10 miles outside of Providence. This scenic waterfront park offers a sandy beach and picnic area, as well as a view of the Conimicut Lighthouse.

 

 

When the warm days and the sunshine have arrived, there’s a good chance that you can find me exploring the great outdoors. Luckily, Providence offers plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors and is home to a network of 120 diverse and beautiful public parks. If you’re looking for the perfect place to unplug, then Roger Williams Park is undoubtedly at the top of my list. The park was created in 1871 and spans over 435 acres, offering a mix of recreational and educational opportunities. Referred to as “The People’s Park,” this beautiful oasis attracts over 1.5 million visitors from around the state and beyond.

 

India Point Park remains another of my favorites, in large part due to the inspiring views of the water. Located in the Fox Point neighborhood, the park features bike paths, playgrounds, and waterfront views amidst luscious lawns and a newly installed pedestrian bridge. In my opinion, India Point Park is an ideal place to soak up the sunshine, enjoy a picnic on the perfectly-manicured lawn, or watch the sunset.

 

 

Nicknamed America’s “Creative Capital,” Providence is a hub for creativity and innovation. The town was originally known for its textile manufacturing and jewelry industries, and the city still reflects that dynamically creative culture to this day. It’s also home to the Rhode Island School of Design, which was founded in 1877 as one of the first art and design schools in the United States.

 

For our clients with children, Providence Children’s Museum is always a hit. Since first opening its doors in the mid-1970s, the museum has become a great place for play, creativity, and exploration. The hands-on, creative learning environment offers a wide array of interactive programs. History buffs might enjoy spending the afternoon at Lippitt House Museum, a National Historic Landmark and one of the best-preserved Victorian-era structures in the country. Tours take guests through lavishly decorated rooms while exploring how Providence’s history shaped the Rhode Island of today.

 

 

 

New to town and on the hunt for the perfect cup of coffee? Well, then you’re in luck because Providence has garnered a reputation for its coffee culture. I strongly recommend heading over to The Coffee Exchange, which has become a favorite among locals since first opening up in 1984. You’ll notice the smell of roasting coffee as you walk down Wickenden Street, and upon walking through the door, you’ll be greeted by the friendly baristas. It’s nearly impossible to go wrong with ordering, but the tuxedo latte never disappoints me.
